About RedactDrop
RedactDrop exists because most redaction tools draw a rectangle and call it done. We wanted one that does what the word means: removes the content. It rasterises the pages you redact, rebuilds the PDF from those images, flattens images to plain pixels, and then checks its own output by extracting text from it before it lets you download anything.
It is a static page. There is no server that receives your document: pdf.js renders it, a canvas paints the boxes, pdf-lib writes the new file, and the verification runs on the bytes it just produced — all in the tab you have open. You can load the page, disconnect from the network, and redact a file end to end. We do not use analytics, accounts or cookies for anything.
It is built and maintained by Interhive OÜ, a small studio in Tallinn that makes tiny, dependable web tools.
What it does
- PDF and image input
- Opens PDFs with pdf.js and PNG, JPEG or WebP images; drag and drop, file picker or paste.
- Boxes by hand or by search
- Draw, move, resize and nudge boxes with mouse, touch or keyboard; search the text layer with plain text or regex and redact every match.
- Rasterised output
- Redacted pages become 150/200/300 DPI images inside a new PDF built with pdf-lib; untouched pages may stay vector, minus comments and markup.
- Verification report
- The output is re-opened and text-extracted; the report counts text items, annotations and metadata fields, and passes only at zero.
